Mancora: an interview with Enrique Murciano and Jason Day.
The Latino actors talk to Maria Salas about their characters in
Mancora and their hot scenes in the movie.
M: Best known by his role in the popular tv-show Without a Trace and
movies like Black Hawk Down, Enrique Murciano joins the cast. He
plays the character of Inigo. The other main cast is a young face of
Hollywood, Jason Day, a Peruvian.
We talk with the Latinos of Mancora.
M: Hello, guys...
E: Hello Maria, how are you?
J: Hello.
M: How are you?
J: I'm very well.
E: It's been a long time we didn't meet.
M: Welcome.
E: Thanks so much.
J: Thanks so much.
M: Enrique, do you feel like you're coming back home, when you
arrive to Miami?
E: Yes, I'm very happy, I have a home here but I've rented it, I
love being in Miami. I meet my friends, my family... everybody.
M: The story begins with this young 21 years old man, going through
his father's death. He doesn't arrive in time for the suicide and he
looks refugee on a beach at north of Peru.
J: His father's death takes him in very difficult moment because he
is fallen out with his father; they hadn't met for a long time and
these two characters, Ximena and Inigo appear and take him through a
unpredictable way.
E: Yes, Inigo's character is a dark person; he has lots of secrets,
much... he's a selfish person, an ugly (bad) person that, honestly,
I don't like so much, but as a character...
M: You end at a beach with a woman you could love but you shouldn't.
J: That happens.
E: But you did it!
J: That happens.
(Laughters)
J: And we got a fight later... you did, damn!
M: At the time you finished your love scenes on the beach, how much
you were covered by sand and where?
J: Well, if you let me show... (he stands up)
(Laughters)
M: Yes, show, show!
E: I helped him.
J: Well, I only was able to think about Adrien Brody that had just
arrived to Mancora.
E: He was there... (I don't hear well, Maria is laughing and missed
Enrique's words, but something about he was there some hours ago or
so)
J: Yes, he arrived just that day, the day of that scene, with Elsa.
E: Adrien is Elsa's boyfriend.
J: There was about 50 people around, looking, you don't watch them,
but I was looking at them. Shooting like that is very uncomfortable,
difficult.
M: Enrique, why we will find all of them confronting their demons?
E: Well, I think that it's what people do during the life, forcing
and forcing until things break and until they are in troubles. I've
done lots of things in my life and now I think how is possible I did
that and why I did? Sometimes you don't understand and...
M: Enrique, how much your life has changed after you got fame and
fortune in Hollywood, since you have got so much success?.
E: Well, honestly, I don't think I've got so much. I wake up every
morning thinking... wow, what can... have I do to make progress
(grow up), right? Not only as an actor but a person. But, thanks
God, I have been lucky, I've worked with amazing directors...
M: Who cook your rice and beans in Hollywood?
E: I do. I cook them for me. Garlic, a pinch of salt, some love...
